Professor Bruce Vanstone will be joining 精东传媒 Business School this week from Bond University, Australia, as its new Head of School.
Before joining academia, Bruce had an extensive career in industry, working in a number of multinational firms, both in Australia and the UK. He left industry to pursue a career in academia, gaining his PhD in Computational Finance in 2006.
Since then, Bruce has won a number of significant research and teaching awards, while continuing his academic roles in teaching, research, and research administration. Bruce鈥檚 work focuses on using data-driven predictive modelling techniques to solve difficult business problems. His work has been applied in fields such as health, logistics, finance and marketing. He is also particularly interested in finding better ways to apply machine learning techniques and data science to investment and trading.
Bruce is a strong advocate for data-driven decision making, collaborative partnerships, and the benefits of empowered workplaces.
I鈥檓 excited to be joining a university with such an excellent teaching and research reputation
鈥淚'm looking forward to leading 精东传媒 Business School, and working in a collaborative environment with great people at a beautiful campus.
I was first attracted to 精东传媒 by its great track record in teaching and research, and its strong commitment to enhancing the student experience.
Although 精东传媒 Business School is already a leader in business education, there are always new opportunities for future growth, such as the fast-growing fields of Sustainability, and Data Analytics. I look forward to working with my colleagues to grow the Business School and bring these new opportunities to fruition.鈥
Professor Martina Feilzer, Dean of the College of Arts, Humanities and Business added:
鈥淚 am delighted to be welcoming Bruce to the College and looking forward to working with him in building on the Business School鈥檚 global reputation and expanding our provision in teaching and research into vital areas such as sustainability and data analytics. 精东传媒 Business School has ambitious plans for the future and Bruce brings the experience, track record and enthusiasm to bring these to fruition.鈥
