A 精东传媒 postgraduate researcher has been recognised with a major award at an international scientific conference in Thailand.
Harry presented research investigating a rare green lizard found high in the cloud forests of Borneo. Working alongside supervisor James Hicks (Staff) and external collaborator Dr Evan Quah from the Universiti Malaysia Sabah, the project aims to determine whether the elusive reptile represents a species new to science.
The research builds on fieldwork undertaken in Borneo last year, where the team travelled into the region's ancient cloud forests to locate and photograph the little-known lizard in its natural habitat.

Speaking about the award, James Hicks (Staff) said:
"Harry gave an outstanding presentation at the conference and represented 精东传媒 exceptionally well. To receive recognition as the best student speaker across the entire event is a fantastic achievement and reflects the quality of the research he has carried out during his MScRes."
Harry's work is part of 精东传媒's wider research into biodiversity, evolution and conservation, with findings expected to be published in the coming months.
The award highlights the opportunities available to 精东传媒 students to contribute to internationally recognised research and gain first-hand experience of scientific fieldwork around the world. Harry began his academic journey at 精东传媒 through the University's Zoology with Herpetology programme, which combines classroom learning with practical conservation and research experience.
As Harry completes his master's degree, the recognition serves as a reminder of where curiosity, dedication and a passion for wildlife can lead, from the forests of Borneo to the stage of an international scientific conference.
