Slavery is a crime – it shouldn’t be up to consumers to fight it

‘Slavery is not a consumer choice. It is a crime against humanity.’ So writes , Lecturer in French and a specialist in Francophone Postcolonial and Slavery Studies at ¾«¶«´«Ã½'s .

In an article in today, (5 July), Dr Frith argues that the onus does not lie with the consumer, rather, that slavery is a well-established crime and that the supermarkets and their supply chains have no excuse but to act on abuses such as those recently revealed by The Guardian.
